Toddler and Pre-Casa classrooms are designed to meet the developmental needs of the very young child and to support the child’s natural growth. These young students need to move and to explore everything in an environment where we can trust that they will be safe.

The children begin to learn patience and start to collaborate when performing activities like caring for the plants, mopping up spills and setting a table. Children in the Montessori environment develop spontaneously and naturally.

Our program supports the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of each child. Toddlers develop speech and language skills and build both fine and gross motor skills as they explore self, family and the world in which they live. Our Toddler and Pre-Casa program prepares children for preschool work by exposing them to each of the classroom areas, language, math, cultur, art/music and sensorial. The toddlers learn concentration, coordination, language skills, responsibility, and respect—all of which prepare them for a successful transition into the Casa program.

Our Toddler and Pre-Casa program is an introduction to the Montessori method of education. In keeping with the Montessori philosophy, all material, lessons, and activities, aim to assist the toddler in acquiring independence. The program is carefully designed to provide an environment furnished with materials and activities that are scaled to the child’s size and abilities. Toddlers engage in play and learning activities which are fun and educational. These activities focus on the child’s individual stage of development and readiness while benefiting from small class sizes with a low teacher to student ratio.

Reinforcing the importance of verbal communication, speaking clearly, and supporting the child’s expanding vocabulary, are paramount in the toddler environment.

Outdoor play provides the toddler with opportunities to develop gross motor skills and social interaction. Circle activities include themes, songs and movement giving the toddler a valuable opportunity to develop socialization skills and speaking skills
